American wedding culture

American weddings are often unique to the couple, and what they want to include or not include for their big day. For ours, we have opted to include guests for a medium-sized, celebratory reception, with plenty of time to mingle and less of a structured itinerary to follow. Of course, we will be including some video footage from our ceremonies so that everyone who wishes can experience those moments with us as well. Expect many hours of music, dancing, food, and great company from the afternoon and late into the evening. Hopefully all of our guests will have lots of quality time to enjoy catching up and catching some great views of the beautiful California coastline.
There will be no strict start time or end time, so feel free to come and go as you need, and check the timeline for a more detailed outline of the day! We will also be providing a shuttle service to and from the main accommodation areas, so please check the Big Sur Accommodation page for more information on the shuttle, and places to stay. Also, our venue has very limited capacity, so we will not be able to accommodate any children or extra guests at this event.
What to wear
Our dress code is Colorful Cocktail, so feel free to dress to the nines in your most summery, fun, and fairly fancy attire. California Poppy orange, blush pink, baby blue, sage green, and lavender, are all encouraged, but not required. Please come in what you feel the best in, and possibly a light layer in case of a slight evening chill rolling in from the sea. If American wedding attire is new to you, or if you just wish for more information, please visit the link below and/or use your formal invitation (coming in January) for color inspo!
Please note that this event will be held mainly outdoors, with limited access to the buildings on the property, but with five indoor bathrooms. While the weather in Big Sur in June is quite nice and sunny during the day, the mornings and evenings can be a bit chilly. Average temperatures are generally 64-65 degrees Fahrenheit (18 degrees Celsius) during the day, and 52-53 Fahrenheit (11-12 Celsius) at night.

What to bring

We have no expectations for physical gifts from our guests - your presence is a gift itself! Please bring your appetite, dancing shoes, and sunscreen (and maybe a light jacket).
